Community Supported Marketplace

Fulton Street Market administers four Food Assistance Programs including SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, WIC Project Fresh, and Senior Market Fresh. While these programs are funded by federal and state governments, the Market itself does not receive any government funding to run them. As a nonprofit organization, the Market relies on grants and fundraising to ensure it is able to continue providing these programs which take many hours per week to maintain.

  • Processing, recording, and reporting customer transactions.

  • At the end of each market day, farmers and food vendors bring tokens that have been spent on their products to market staff who count and record them on Token Redemption Forms. These forms are used to do accounting and reporting before checks are written and delivered to vendors the following week. During the week, tokens are counted and bagged into frequently withdrawn amounts to ease the customer transaction process during busy market days.

  • Market Management ensures all vendors follow rules and are up-to-date on contracts for each specific food assistance program.
